Roteiro já estaria em andamento
O site de entretenimento The Hollywood Reporter informou que a Legendary Entertainment e a Warner Bros começaram a trabalhar em uma sequência do live action Pokémon: Detetive Pikachu. Oren Uziel (Sonic the Hedgehog, The Clover Paradox, 22 Jump Street) irá escrever o roteiro da sequência.

O primeiro filme está previsto para estrear nos Estados Unidos em 10 de maio e também no Japão em maio. A Warner Bros. distribuirá o longa na América do Norte e a TOHO no Japão.
Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) vai interpretar o detetive Pikachu. Justice Smith(The Get Down) estrela como Tim Goodman. Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) interpreta a “jornalista atrevida” Lucy. Ken Watanabe (Godzilla) é o personagem Detective Yoshida. Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Love Actually), Chris Geere (You’re The Worst), Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed) e Omar Chaparro (Stuck, Overboard 2018) também fazem parte do elenco.
Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens, Goosebumps) está dirigindo o filme, com roteiros de Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) e Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy).
O filme é baseado no jogo Detetive Pikachu do Nintendo 3DS, que foi lançado no Japão em 2016.
